Last of the Terrain

This last month has been pretty intense as you probably could tell by my lack of posts recently. This blog isn’t about my life so I’m not going to go into all the details, but it looks like I’ll be wrapped up in other activities for at least the next month. I’ll try and do some painting but can’t promise any new posts for a while.

I did finally finish that batch of terrain though. Glad I’m done with it cuz I want to get back to painting minis, not rocks and cardboard.

I’m going to be GMing some Pathfinder coming up for some friends and fam, and I’m trying to finish paintjobs for some of the minis I’m going to use in that campaign so next time I post, it will probably be for that. It’s a batch job so I’ll give some tips on how to paint a lot of minis at once.

Till next time!

2 More Warhammer 40k Terrains

My next two pieces were done with a sand ground base since the grass on the last two looked kind of blaa. Still, I had troubles with gluing stuff to the sand. It became really flaky as you can see in some of the pictures. I’m probably going to do two or three more then be done with terrain for a while. It was a fun diversion from painting minis.

More Warhammer 40k Terrain

That Monique De Noir is still on hold as I am really getting into terrain creation. I'm most likely going to use this set of terrain for my Warhammer 40k games I've decided. This is the second completed piece that I've done in this set. The first two landscapes I started with didn't work out, but this one, and the one I showed off in the previous post, did. I've still got supplies left so I might be making more soon.

Warhammer 40k Terrain

Well, I was painting Monique De Noir until I realized I didn't like the color scheme I had chosen for her. I'm starting over on her but stripping all that paint took so much work that I needed a break from her; so, I started making terrain for Pathfinder/Warhammer 40k.

Here's the first piece done! I used a foam board for the base, and tiny clay tiles I found at Michaels for the stonework. I'll be posting another terrain piece soon.

New Shipment

I just bought a whole slew of new minis and am pretty excited to get started on them. I was in the process of building a Dark Eldar Rader ship but man its big and is taking a lot of time. I decided to take a break from it to start painting one of the new models I got in my shipment. The model's name is Monique De Noir from Reaper. Forgot to take a picture straight out of the blister but here's what I've got so far on her.

I'm thinking about a color scheme of black, white, and either yellow or pink.

The Dwarf

So I finished off the Dwarf and Knight today! It's been a while since my last post but I have been painting...just not on the dwarf.

Here's a close-up on an effect I've seen others do with some synthetic grass. I just used an old paint brush, chopped off the tip and glued it to the base.

The rest of these pictures show basically just the base coats. I haven't gotten into highlighting or washing yet.

Did a little bit more with the dwarf. Got some grasses on his base and colored it. Also finished all of his base colors.

And here's the final shots of him. Sorry I forgot to crop the pictures. One cool thing about this character is his two enchanted skulls stuck on his horn. One's the skull of a wicked priest, and the other the skull of a murderer. hence one being black and one being white. This character is a lot of fun to play with in Pathfinder since each skull has spell charges on them and to activate the spell, he has to repeatedly slap a skull which is pretty comical in the middle of a battle.

Steps of the Knight

And here's the knight that I've been painting for my Pathfinder friend. Once again, with only the simple base coats applied thus far.

Almost all base colors have been added here.

Finished the base coat by this point, next I'll start doing washes and some highlighting.

Here's the last of the work I've done on the knight. Here I added a black wash to most of his armor and did some highlights on the leather and steel.

3 Projects Begun

So I recently started 3 projects at once (not intentional) so it may be awhile until I can dedicate a blog to each's finish. What I can post now is the beginning photos of each.

Here's a Knight I'm painting for a friend.

A Dwarf I'm working on for my Pathfinder campaign. my last character, the wizard Kain, died :(

And a Dark Eldar Raider for my Dark Eldar army in Warhammer 40k.
